Mendix is used by customers of all sizes for apps of all sizes. So, to match a pricing model that fits your business need, we offer the following license types and product editions:

I am building multiple applications for the same usergroup. Do I need multiple licenses for each user?

Ideally not. The Team and Business Edition provide access to 1 application at a time only. If you are scaling your installed base of Mendix applications, you probably want to upgrade to the Professional or even Enterprise Edition. The Professional Edition includes out-of-the-box 5 Mendix nodes (applications), the Enterprise Edition provides access to potentially unlimited number of nodes (apps). I want to deploy an application for thousands of users. Do I need to buy a license for each of them?

No. For applications with large user bases, we have different pricing models. Contact our salesteam.

I prefer to buy a license instead of an annual subscription. Is this possible?

Yes, this is optional, but only for customers with an Professional or Enterprise license. Contact our salesteam if you want to know more.

I have my own servers. Can I host my Mendix application in-house?

Yes you can! You can set up your “private cloud” on your own servers. This option is available for customers with a professional or enterprise license.

If I cancel my subscription, how do I get my data back?

You can either export your data from your own application, or we can send you a database dump.

I am a student and I want to use Mendix for my study project. Can I get a free license?

Yes. Mendix offers free licenses of the Mendix Business Edition to students, open-source initiatives and non-profit organizations. To obtain your license, contact our sales team. If you are a student or professor, you might want to check out our Mendix OnCampus program.
