Mendix Named a Leader among Enterprise Public Cloud Platforms for Rapid Developers by Independent Research Firm
Analysts recognize Mendix for being focused solely on providing rapid developers with a time- and effort-saving alternative to conventional development platforms
BOSTON – December 29, 2014 – Mendix, the enterprise app platform as a service (aPaaS) company, today announced its position as a “Leader” in the Rapid Developers segment of “The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Public Cloud Platforms, Q4 2014” report (December 2014).
Mendix placed as a leader in the segment aimed at Rapid Developers, defined in the report as a group that “prefer(s) not to code” and “want(s) high productivity, not resource details.” “Rapid devs want to deliver major applications in weeks – days if possible. They see public cloud platforms as a fresh start with the potential to yield massive gains in the quantity, velocity, and quality of application delivery,” according to the report.
For the report, Forrester Research evaluated the Mendix App Platform, describing Mendix as being “focused solely on providing rapid developers with a time- and effort-saving alternative to conventional development platforms.” The report says Mendix “includes extensive, visual declarative development and delivery tools, prebuilt application components, and support for both web and mobile application creation.”
It also notes that Mendix, since Forrester’s last evaluation in 2013, has added a new marketplace, expanded its application-management features, and opened its platform with both a new API and support of Cloud Foundry.
In total, Forrester selected 16 vendors from an initial field of 60 using a set of nine criteria for selection. These 16 vendors were then evaluated based on the requirements of three distinct developer categories: DevOps Pros, Coders and Rapid Developers. For the Rapid Developer segment, Forrester gave extra weight to self-service, abstraction features and the completeness of the development, testing, and deployment services.
