Great to Hear from All the Analysts Last Week

on June 21, 2013

It’s truly great to hear from our friends at Gartner and Forrester last week in two separate reports that provide great overviews of the Enterprise Public Cloud Platform and Platform as a Service markets. We are happy to see that these independent research firms see the benefit that Mendix brings enterprises around the world in both of these fast-growing markets, and decided to include us in their report.

On Friday, Forrester published “The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Public Cloud Platforms, Q2 2013” in which it named Mendix a “Strong Performer” for Rapid Developers. The research firm invited Mendix to participate in a rigorous evaluation process that compared 14 of the most significant public cloud platform providers for large enterprises on a set of 19 criteria.

The authors of this report wrote, “Public cloud platforms are the keys that unlock the flexibility, productivity, and economic advantages of cloud computing. Application development and delivery (AD&D) pros use a wide variety of public cloud platforms, and this Forrester Wave™ evaluates the leading providers of these choices.” We’re very excited to be included in this report, and our experience with our customers validates this statement. In today’s most competitive markets, large enterprises rely on applications to innovate and to perform, and they need the best possible way to build, deploy, and manage those applications to keep moving forward.

This past Thursday, Gartner Research also published its “Platform as a Service: Definition, Taxonomy and Vendor Landscape, 2013”. This report provides an in-depth overview of this market and all of the players, both products and services, which partake in it. We’re looking forward to showing these analysts all the new cool features we’ve added in Mendix 5!

  • Can you guys say something about how Garter currently positions Mendix? Being elaborate about the Forrest report, and hardly say anything about how Gartner scores Mendix, just stating Mendix is mentioned in a Gartner-report, makes me suspicious on whether the Gartner report is not all that positive, relative to competitors?

    Hi Raoul,

The mentioned Gartner report doesn’t offer opinions, just an overview of the vendor landscape. Gartner is working on a PaaS MQ which will actually compare the aPaaS vendors though.
