Derek Roos, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer

As chief executive officer, Derek leads a pioneering team of software industry experts with the mission to bridge the gap between business and IT, making business application development dramatically easier, faster and collaborative. As a result, the company is achieving tremendous global growth and disrupting the way many of the world’s leading companies are innovating and differentiating.

Derek earned a Master of Science degree in Business Administration from Erasmus University, Rotterdam. He is a highly sought speaker at IT conferences and is guest lecturer at several universities. Derek has received the Ernst & Young Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 Award.

Johan den Haan

Johan den Haan, Chief Technology Officer

As Mendix’s chief technology officer, Johan leads the company’s overall technical strategy and research & product development teams.

Johan speaks regularly at technology events and is a renowned blogger on a range of topics, including PaaS, Model-Driven Development, Scrum, cloud computing and software engineering. He earned a Master of Science in Computer Science with a specialization in Information Architecture from the Delft University of Technology.

Derckjan Kruit

Derckjan Kruit, Co-Founder and Vice President of Corporate Development

Derckjan Kruit co-founded Mendix and has been instrumental in leading its growth across the company’s operational, financial, and customer-service operations. Today he spearheads a wide range of strategic initiatives and works closely with internal and external teams to ensure that Mendix continues to adapt, improve, and grow. Derckjan holds a Master of Science degree from Erasmus University, Rotterdam.

Marcel Karssen

Marcel Karssen, Chief Financial Officer

Behind every successful company lies a financial and organizational infrastructure that provides the foundation to grow and succeed. With more than 30 years of experience in financial and operational management, Marcel Karssen oversees Mendix’s financial and business supporting operations, helping the company pursue profitable partnerships with customers around the world while striving for operational excellence.

Previously, Marcel held senior roles amongst other at Oracle, Prolin/HP and Q-go. Most recently, he was Vice President for EMEA Customer Experience and Operations at RightNow Technologies. In addition to his corporate experience, Karssen has played an entrepreneurial role in a number of start-up IT companies as both co-founder and interim manager.

Mark Rogers

Mark Rogers, Vice President of Business Development

Application Platform as a Service customers benefit from a robust, vibrant ecosystem with technology partners, advisory partners, and developers. With more than 20 years of experience pioneering innovative partnership strategies and techniques in the cloud, data services, and middleware markets, Mark Rogers leads global business development and partner programs, helping customers reach their goals, partners thrive, and Mendix grow.

Prior to joining Mendix, Mark held senior leadership roles at Microsoft where he launched Windows Azure and led Windows product management for the ISV and Developer ecosystem. Previously, he was VP of Partnerships at IONA Technologies and led business development and channels for several high-growth companies, including Identify Software, Intira, Epicor, and Open Market. Mark holds a BS in Marketing and Finance from DePaul University and performed graduate studies at Miami University of Ohio.

Reza Warnink

Reza Warnink, Vice President of EMEA

As VP EMEA, Reza Warnink is responsible for the go to market strategy of the EMEA region. His goal is to accelerate and sustain Mendix’s rapid growth by enhancing the company’s vertical market approach and further expanding its EMEA sales team and partnerships.

Reza has a proven track record with over 20 years of experience across global software enterprises. Prior to joining Mendix, he held sales and management positions as VP EMEA and General Manager Northern Europe with a variety of companies, including Worksoft, Heirloom Computing and Micro Focus.

Donna Williams

Donna Williams , Vice President of Customer Success

Donna’s focus is on successful outcomes for Mendix’s global customer base. She leads a team of Customer Success Managers, Expert Services, Education and Global Support professionals who are responsible for customer satisfaction, renewals and expansion of the business.

Prior to Mendix, Donna built the Customer Success organization at Actifio which services customers in over 35 countries. She built the customer success team at AppIQ, which was acquired by HP. She then led HP’s software support organization in the Americas. At StorageNetworks she built a managed services organization and she grew a very successful SAP practice at IBM Global Services. Donna started her career in IT management at DuPont. She earned a Bachelors in Computer Science from LaSalle University and an MBA from the University of Baltimore.

Mary-Jo Porcello

Mary-Jo Porcello, Vice President of Human Resources

Mary-Jo (MJ) Porcello has more than 25 years of progressive experience in the field of Human Resources and 14 years as the strategic function leader within technology companies. As Mendix’s HR leader, she is responsible for the people strategy to successfully support our high-growth organization.

Prior to joining Mendix, MJ was VP of Human Resources for Arbor Networks, Viisage Technology and eRoom Technology. In these roles, she was responsible for the strategy, program design, implementation and management for all people programs as well as the Human Resources leader for several acquisitions.

MJ earned her BA in Human Resources from the University of Massachusetts and her MBA with a concentration in MIS from Northeastern University.

Eric Poley

Eric Poley, VP of Sales, North America

As VP of Sales, Eric Poley is instrumental in expanding Mendix’s leadership in the fast-growing aPaaS market and driving sales in North America. With more than two decades of sales leadership experience, Eric is responsible for scaling the sales organization to keep pace with growing demand for platforms that accelerate digital transformation through rapid delivery of Web, mobile and IoT applications.

Eric has a track record of rapid revenue growth. Previously, he built enterprise SaaS sales teams for several world-class organizations, including Salesforce.com and Veracode. Most recently, Eric implemented a new direct sales strategy at JW Player, resulting in two consecutive years of 100% growth, the addition of over 4,500 new clients and an 85 percent increase in average deal size.

Eric earned a Bachelors in Finance from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Babson College.

Loek van den Boog

Loek van den Boog, Chairman of the Board of Directors

With roots in finance and extensive experience in commercial and general management positions, Loek van den Boog provides seasoned, hands-on leadership and steady guidance to Mendix. For more than 25 years he has built a superior record of accomplishment with global IT organizations in environments such as telecom and enterprise software. His expertise in internationalization and sales and marketing as well as consulting services, education, support, distribution, and finance enable him to offer Mendix unique insights and help steer the fast-growing company.

He concurrently holds several board-level positions with Five Degrees, Vallstein, as well as Net4kids, a charity founded by him and his wife Anke. Previously, he held senior-management roles at Oracle from 1984-1996, as the company grew from $13 million to $4.2 billion, where in his last position he was heading up Oracle Europe. Recently, Van den Boog was senior advisor at General Atlantic Partners and was a board member for several of the PE firm’s portfolio companies. He has also served as CEO for Patni Computer Systems, Ltd., Cordys, and Meta4.

Michael Brown

Michael Brown, Member of the Board of Directors

Since Joining Battery Ventures in 1998, Michael has made, or managed, multiple investments in the areas of financial services, enterprise software and technology-enabled business services. Michael currently serves on the board of Bluestem Brands, Digby, ExactTarget (NYSE: ET, acquired by Salesforce.com), IDI Direct Insurance, J. Hilburn, Panjiva, Q2ebanking, and TradeKing. In addition, he has been actively involved with Battery’s investments in ChemConnect (acquired by InterContinental Exchange), The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) (acquired by Euronext), MRU Holdings, Neolane (acquired by Adobe) and OutlookSoft Corporation (acquired by SAP).

George Kassabgi

George Kassabgi, Member of the Board of Directors

A successful entrepreneur and investor, George Kassabgi is a member of the Mendix board of directors. He also serves as Executive Chairman at Luminoso, a text analytics technology company and Executive Chairman at ZappRx, a health care information automation company. George co-founded and was CEO at Keas.com, a provider of employee health and wellness solutions. He was formerly chief executive officer of Bit9 Inc., a leader in desktop security.

George has held executive-level roles at Progress Software and BEA Systems. He has been actively involved in high-tech start-ups as a board member, angel investor, and advisor with companies such as Stackdriver (acquired by Google), RationalWave Analytics (acquired by BottomLine), DataPower (acquired by IBM), Imprivata, Indigio Group, LeapFILE, and Kiodex (acquired by Sungard).

Roel de Hoop

Roel de Hoop, Member of the Board of Directors

With a strong entrepreneurial background, Roel de Hoop is a member of Mendix’s board of directors, acting as an investor and coach to support the company’s expansion. Roel’s wealth of experience includes board positions at Human Inference, Q-Go, Sellaband, Priv-ID, Serious Toys and AppLift. In addition, he is a general partner with Prime Ventures, which he joined as a venture partner in 1999. Roel was a successful entrepreneur in Internet and software industries, with expertise and considerable experience in international sales and marketing. He founded Hot-Orange in 1998 and was a CEO of this company. Earlier, he joined software company Prolin as a partner. As senior vice president for strategic alliances and co-owner, he played a significant role in the HP’s successful acquisition of Prolin.
