Faster LTS Releases: Your Strategic Upgrade Roadmap

Platform updates are getting simpler. We’re speeding up our LTS release cycle to make innovations available to all customers earlier. As the first step, Mendix 11.12 (June 2026) will be an LTS release. Here’s everything you need to know.

We know that teams building mission-critical applications choose (LTS) Long Term Support for maximum stability, and that has meant waiting longer for the latest innovations. That changes now.

We’re so excited about the capabilities we’ve shipped recently that we’re making them available on LTS sooner than planned, starting with Mendix 11.12. Alongside this accelerated approach, you’ll get concrete performance gains (more on that below), validated stability, and upgrade experiences that continue the positive trajectory our customers have seen from Mendix 8 through Mendix 11.

Faster cadence, built around you

More frequent LTS releases mean you can support innovation sooner. The planned Mendix 11 LTS releases are:

  • Mendix 11.12 – June 2026
  • Mendix 11.18 – December 2026
  • Mendix 11.24 – June 2027

All Mendix LTS versions will be supported for the full lifetime of Mendix 11, and crucially, all without breaking changes between them. Staying current gets easier, and with every new LTS release there’s a new opportunity to take advantage of innovation and new capabilities.

Studio Pro gets a serious speed boost

Working in Studio Pro gets noticeably faster with 11.12.

  • Load step of application project opening: 3x faster
  • Error checking: 4x faster (critical for background processes)
  • Page export time on rebuild: 8x faster (essential for local app testing)

These aren’t incremental improvements—they represent fundamental enhancements to the developer workflow that will compound in value throughout the development lifecycle. And there’s more performance work still landing before the release.

Upgrading, made simpler

Upgrading to 11.12, and to every LTS that follows, becomes even more straightforward. The new Update Assistant shows exactly what needs to change. It surfaces deprecation warnings and highlights outdated APIs directly in the model, making it possible to prepare ahead of time and move to the next version with a clear picture of what’s ahead.

Marketplace modules can also be updated without losing customizations. And with no breaking changes between Mendix 11 LTS versions, each subsequent upgrade builds on the last.

From idea to application, with Maia

Maia brings AI into the core of how Mendix apps get built: from planning all the way through to a working application. Maia Plan turns scattered inputs into a structured backlog. Maia Make takes that plan into Studio Pro and scaffolds the pages, data structures, and logic so teams can focus on what actually requires their expertise.

Studio Pro also works with the agents and tools already in use — with BYO Agent connecting external AI agents directly to Studio Pro via MCP. Maia improves every month with new capabilities shipping continuously across every Mendix release. LTS provides a stable, supported foundation to adopt those improvements with confidence, on a schedule that works for your organization.

Where we’re headed

Software development is changing faster than at any point in its history, and Mendix is built to move with it. Agentic AI is becoming central to how applications get planned, built, and managed, and our platform is designed to put those capabilities in the hands of every team across the organization.

We remain committed to the principles that make that possible: democratizing development, fostering collaboration across the full delivery lifecycle, and ensuring that the speed AI enables never comes at the cost of security or governance. Our new LTS cadence is how we bring that progress forward — reliably, predictably, and with the stability your organization can build on.

Plan your upgrade

Here’s how to best reconsider your upgrade strategy given this new LTS release cadence:

Immediate actions:

  • Plan for June 2026: Prepare to upgrade to Mx11.12 at or shortly after its release
  • Establish a Cadence: Schedule follow-on upgrades to Mx11.18 (December 2026) and Mx11.24 (June 2027)
  • Customize by Application: Recognize that upgrade cadence can vary based on application criticality and change tolerance

Portfolio-level planning:

The new LTS cadence enables more nuanced upgrade strategies. Mission-critical applications might follow a more conservative upgrade path, while development and testing environments can stay on the bleeding edge to take advantage of the latest features and performance improvements.
