Mendix 10 is Coming in June 2023

We are excited to share that Mendix 10 is planned for general availability (GA) this summer, June 2023. There’s quite a bit in store for this release (including the upcoming merging of Mendix Studio and Studio Pro), but all the other great things Mendix 10 will bring are a surprise for now. We will share additional information as the GA date approaches.

Mendix 10 Timeline

The upcoming release of Mendix 10 also means that a long-term supported (LTS) version of Mendix 9 is coming. Like we’ve done in the past, we release new versions every month to continuously improve our platform. More information on the Mendix application life cycle, including LTS, can be found here.

Below you can find important planned dates for Mendix 9 and Mendix 10.

End of Support Mendix 7

Mendix 10 has implications for previous Mendix versions. The end of support for Mendix 7 will coincide with the release of Mendix 10.

We provide platform support for the three most recent major versions at any given time. When Mendix 10 becomes available, the following major versions will be supported: Mendix 10, Mendix 9, and Mendix 8. Introducing new and deprecating major releases enables us to provide high-security standards and effective support.

You can find more information on how best to upgrade below, but don’t hesitate to reach out to your CSM or Mendix Support to help make upgrading as easy as possible. We will follow up with more details in the coming months, including options for extending support for apps running on Mendix 7.

What does this mean for you?

You can ignore this message if you do not have Mendix 7 apps in production.

If you have Mendix 7 apps in production:

  • You must upgrade Mendix 7 apps to a supported version before June 2023. Otherwise, Mendix will not provide fixes, updates, investigating, troubleshooting, or other forms of assistance. For example, we will not update Mendix 7 if new security vulnerabilities are found.
  • If you continue to use versions for which support has ended, you do so at your own risk for your applications, data, and security.
  • You will not be able to take advantage of new features introduced in our major releases.
  • You can find more information about end of support here.

How do you check the Mendix version?

  • For apps running on Mendix Cloud, navigate to The Control Center dashboard, which includes an overview of which Studio Pro/Mendix versions internal and external members are using for apps. You can find more information here.
  • For apps not running on Mendix Cloud, open your apps in Mendix Studio. The Mendix version can be viewed by clicking the More Options icon > About in the upper-right corner of Studio. You can find more information here.
  • Alternatively, contact your CSM to find out how to check the Mendix version of your apps.

Migration

The recommended upgrade plan is sequential to ensure success.

  • More information about migrating from Mendix 7 to Mendix 8 can be found here.
  • More information about migrating from Mendix 8 to Mendix 9 can be found here.
  • More information about migrating from Mendix 9 to Mendix 10 will be coming soon.

Future releases

Our major release cycle will become predictable so that you can budget appropriately and create a standard upgrade policy rhythm for major releases. Starting with Mendix 10, we plan to release a new major version once every two years. More information on this can be found here.
