Mendix Named a Visionary in Gartner 2015 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Application Platform as a Service, Worldwide

BOSTON – April 1, 2015 – Mendix, the enterprise app platform as a service (aPaaS) company, today announced its position as a “Visionary” in the newly published Gartner “Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Application Platform as a Service, Worldwide” report (March 2015). An open, cloud-native platform for rapid app delivery, the Mendix App Platform brings business and IT together to design, build, deploy and manage multi-channel apps with unprecedented speed.

This is the second year Gartner has evaluated the Enterprise Application Platform as a Service technology (aPaaS) landscape. Mendix was positioned as a “Visionary” in the report due to its completeness of vision and ability to execute.

According to the report, “In a bimodal IT world, the high-productivity aPaaS may be required in central IT looking for fast returns on investment, and high-control aPaaS may be needed in the LOBs as some of them become more technically skilled. The divide between the LOBs and central IT is becoming less pronounced as cloud services that recognize the bimodal nature of modern IT deliver new solutions.”

Mendix’s unique combination of high-productivity and high-control aPaaS is crucial to successful adoption of a bimodal IT strategy. With this two-speed approach, traditional development teams continue to focus on core systems while a second ‘fast lane’ is created to address emerging application needs with unclear requirements and tight timelines. Mendix empowers small, cross-functional teams to build these apps in short, iterative cycles together with the business, dramatically shrinking time to market while ensuring first-time-right delivery. At the same time, Mendix’s support for the Cloud Foundry open PaaS framework enables auto-scaling and other high-control capabilities.

“We believe that our recognition as a Visionary in the Gartner aPaaS Magic Quadrant reflects our vision and the successes we’ve delivered for our customers and partners,” said Derek Roos, CEO and Co-Founder of Mendix. “IT and business leaders trust Mendix to deliver multi-channel apps with the speed and agility required to compete in today’s digital economy.”
