Mendix World 2016 Hackathon Challenges Developers to Build Cutting-Edge IoT Apps in 24 Hours

Teams Will Compete to Build the Best Smart App using the Mendix Platform with Sensor Data from the KPN LoRa Network

BOSTON, MA and ROTTERDAM, The Netherlands April 26, 2016Mendix, a leading application Platform-as-a-Service (aPaaS) provider, today announced details of a 24-hour, IoT-themed hackathon at Mendix World 2016, which will take place June 7-8 at the Van Nelle Factory in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. 

The Mendix World 2016 Hackathon will challenge small teams to build working Internet of Things (IoT) Smart Apps in just 24 hours. There will be several IoT use cases for developers to choose from, including an event app that leverages sensor data collected at Mendix World plus real customer scenarios to be announced shortly. To facilitate rapid connectivity and deployment, participants will have access to the KPN LoRa Network, a long-range network for connecting low-energy, low-data devices, plus one-click deployment on AWS.

Beginning on June 6th, teams will build applications over a 24-hour period at the Van Nelle Factory. An estimated 60 Mendix developers are expected to participate, with teams competing for prizes in Professional and Student categories. Audience voting will take place via the Mendix World event app and the winners will be announced during the plenary closing remarks.
