Leveraging the Mendix and Snowflake integration, Vivix moved beyond traditional AI copilots to orchestrate a hybrid workforce of people and AI agents and reduce quality complaint resolution times by 75% (from 10 days down to just 2.5). This transformation is powered by more than 30 Mendix applications that activate real-time data from a Snowflake foundation.

From data silos to autonomous action

While many industrial firms struggle to bridge the pilot-to-production gap with fragmented AI solutions, Vivix has utilized the Mendix™ low-code platform and Snowflake’s Cortex AI to create a unified ecosystem. The centerpiece of this transformation is the Virtual Engineer, an AI-driven agent embedded in Vivix’s Glass DNA application used to track and trace quality and production issues.

Unlike standard chatbots that simply retrieve information, the Virtual Engineer is evolving into an autonomous agent capable of reasoning and executing actions across SAP and shop-floor OT systems. By centralizing data in Snowflake and activating it through Mendix, Vivix enables AI-augmented applications to trigger follow-up actions in core systems with minimal human intervention.

Bridging the shop floor and the top floor

Vivix’s innovation spans the entire manufacturing lifecycle, which includes:

• Intelligent monitoring: The Sentinel app monitors glass furnaces in real-time. Vivix uses technology provided by Mendix’s partner Highbyte to standardize and contextualize raw OT data into a Unified Namespace (UNS). This data is persisted in Snowflake to train specialized machine learning models in Rapidminer® AI Studio software to predict anomalies before they impact production. Snowflake Cortex AI powers the conversational user experience (the chatbot feel), while the AI Studio provides the domain-specific environment for building the predictive furnace models.
• Multi-agent collaboration: With Mendix apps like Sentinel and Glass DNA are moving toward a multi-agent orchestration model, where an anomaly detected in the furnace can automatically prompt the Virtual Engineer to initiate workflows to optimize production parameters and perform maintenance.

Governance without friction

To scale these agents safely, Vivix utilizes the Mendix Governance layer to enforce policy boundaries, complete decision traceability and data lineage. This ensures that “human-in-the-loop” remains a core design principle, allowing senior engineers to focus on continuous improvement while agents handle high-velocity, routine decision-making.
