Mendix Named a Strong Performer For Enterprise Public Cloud Platform

Independent research firm recognizes business application platform provider for its solution ‘dedicated to the rapid developer’

BOSTON June 17, 2013 – Mendix, the app platform company for the enterprise, today announced its position as a “Strong Performer” in the “The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Public Cloud Platforms, Q2 2013” report (June 2013). The company was one of the 14 most significant public cloud platform providers for large enterprises that Forrester invited to participate in this rigorous evaluation to assess the state of the public cloud platform market.

Forrester Research, Inc. developed a comprehensive set of 19 criteria grouped into three high-level categories: Current Offering, Strategy and Market Presence. Mendix was named a “Strong Performer” in Enterprise Public Cloud Platforms for Rapid Developers.

Enterprise Public Cloud Platforms are seen as important tools for application developers as enterprises embrace public clouds. Forrester’s research projects that adoption of public clouds by enterprises will cross over the 30 percent mark this year. As such, selecting the right public cloud platform for building, hosting and launching applications represents “a crucial decision” for enterprises, according to the Forrester report. The authors wrote, “Public cloud platforms are the keys that unlock the flexibility, productivity, and economic advantages of cloud computing. Application development and delivery (AD&D) pros use a wide variety of public cloud platforms, and this Forrester Wave™ evaluates the leading providers of these choices.”

For this report, Forrester evaluated the Mendix App Platform. Rapid developers use the platform to build enterprise apps in a powerful visual modeling environment that can be readily understood by business and IT team members alike. This enables teams to build business applications much faster and easier than traditional means of software development.

In its evaluation of Mendix, Forrester stated that the company “provides a PaaS dedicated to the rapid developer.” The report goes on to state that “Mendix has come a long way during the last three years: building a comprehensive PaaS platform for rapid devs, transferring its headquarters from Europe to the US, and establishing a presence in the North American market. Mendix is focused solely on providing a highly productive alternative to conventional development platforms — for rapid developers.”

“Competitive pressures in the marketplace have made it more important than ever for companies to create business apps in days, not months or years. There is strong need for a disruptive technology to help achieve this,” said Derek Roos, CEO and founder, Mendix. “Our platform gives companies the ability to bring business and IT together, to generate results quickly and efficiently. We consider our position as a Strong Performer in the Forrester Enterprise Public Cloud Platform Wave as further recognition of our strong growth in this market.”
