Mendix Wins at Computing Magazine’s Vendor Excellence Awards

Mendix rewarded in the mobile application development category for the successes enjoyed by its customer, Springer Healthcare

London, UK – July 5th, 2016 – Mendix, the leading cloud platform for rapid application development and delivery, has been named the winner of the prestigious Mobile Application Development award at Computing Magazine’s 2016 Vendor Excellence Awards in London. The UK-based awards celebrate the achievements of the technology vendors and service providers who are leading the field of enterprise IT with innovative products, services and solutions that underpin and drive success in both business and public sector organisations.

Mendix was named the winner by a panel of independent judges impressed by the mobile application development story of Springer Healthcare. The publisher used the Mendix platform to build an application supporting mobility for 200 sales and operations staff globally. Providing access ‘anytime, anywhere’ to client information, quotes and to a content database of saleable article reprints and books, the application offers staff access via multiple destop, tablet and mobile platforms. It’s estimated that had Springer Healthcare used traditional coding techniques, application development would have taken in excess of 12 months. Using Mendix and supported by Mendix partner AuraQ, the project took just 12 weeks.

“We are delighted to have been recognised by Computing’s distinguished judging panel,” said Derek Roos, CEO and co-founder of Mendix. “When it comes to digital innovation, the Mendix platform enables business and IT to collaborate and iterate toward the right business solutions, faster and easier than other approaches. Equally important is that these applications work seamlessly across channels and devices.”

“With a strong case study in the healthcare sector showing a project completed in 12 weeks that would have otherwise taken a year, this was the judges’ favourite,” said Peter Gothard, special projects editor at Computing. “In fact, Mendix was the clear winner.”

The Mendix platform, and its multi-channel application development approach, is recognised by leading analysts, including Gartner and Forrester. Just last week, Mendix was named a visionary for the second year in a row in the Gartner 2016 Magic Quadrant for Mobile Application Development Platforms.
