Mendix Joins New Cloud Foundry Foundation for Open PaaS
Mendix advances open PaaS strategy and brings rapid app development to Cloud Foundry users
BOSTON – December 9, 2014 –Mendix, the enterprise application Platform-as-a-Service (aPaaS) company, today announced its membership in the Cloud Foundry Foundation, an independent non-profit organization formed with the purpose of supporting the sustained development, promotion and adoption of the Cloud Foundry open source projects. By integrating with Cloud Foundry and actively contributing to its development, Mendix continues to advance its strategy of delivering an open and flexible platform that supports seamless, multi-cloud deployment.
In June, Mendix announced its support for Cloud Foundry®, including plans to help evolve the open standard as well as integrate Cloud Foundry’s Platform-as-a-Service (Cloud PaaS) framework with Mendix’s rapid app platform-as-a-service (aPaaS). Mendix’s membership in the Cloud Foundry Foundation solidifies that commitment while enhancing the company’s ability to provide customers and partners with even greater deployment flexibility and portability. Mendix users will be able to seamlessly integrate with Cloud Foundry-based public, private and hybrid cloud stacks, allowing them to deploy their apps virtually anywhere and future-proof their investments.
“We are excited to welcome Mendix to the Cloud Foundry Foundation,” said Leo Spiegel, SVP Corporate Development at Pivotal. “Mendix brings rapid application development to Cloud Foundry’s open PaaS ecosystem, proving direct business impact with such a fast, easy and open way to build and deliver business applications.”
Mendix has emerged as the leading rapid app development experience for customers and service providers adopting Cloud Foundry. This announcement follows another major milestone last week, when the company announced a partnership with HP, adding Mendix rapid development capabilities to HP Helion (HP is a founding Platinum member of the Cloud Foundry Foundation). Companies can rapidly build engaging multi-channel apps using Mendix’s signature, visual development capabilities with integrated one-click deployment for robust, elastic applications on the HP Helion Development Platform.
“With momentum accelerating for Cloud Foundry as the industry standard, we are strengthening our commitment to the PaaS framework and open source project,” said Johan den Haan, CTO at Mendix. “By integrating with Cloud Foundry and contributing to its development, we continue to offer our customers and partners more options for seamless, elastic, multi-cloud deployment. This allows rapid developers to focus solely on building business apps with Mendix to better innovate and compete and rely on the flexibility and choice of an open PaaS that can automatically scale with their needs.”
