Pipelines Extended to Mendix on Kubernetes and Azure

Pipelines Extended to Mendix on Kubernetes and Azure

Key takeaways

  • Mendix Pipelines now supports automated build, test and deployment to Mendix on Kubernetes and Mendix on Azure offerings, boosting developer productivity.
  • You can flexibly design your own pipelines directly in the Mendix Portal, with quality gates via Maia – helping improve app quality without deep DevOps knowledge.
  • These enhancements streamline DevOps processes and improve collaboration across teams, reducing manual steps, accelerating time-to-market, and ensuring consistent application quality across environments.

We’re thrilled to announce a significant expansion to our Mendix Pipelines capabilities, bringing seamless CI/CD support specifically for Mendix for Kubernetes (formerly Mendix on Private Cloud Connected) and Mendix for Azure deployment offerings. This expansion reflects our low-ops strategy—delivering platform capabilities that minimize operational overhead and enables a focus on building, not managing infrastructure.

Why this matters

In today’s rapidly evolving technology landscape, organizations need deployment flexibility without sacrificing the speed and reliability that low-code development promises. Whether you’re leveraging Kubernetes for container orchestration or building on Microsoft Azure’s robust cloud infrastructure, Mendix Pipelines now streamlines your path from development to production. Create CI pipelines, build and deploy pipelines, or promotion pipelines. You can design your pipelines from the Mendix Portal, through our low-code experience, without requiring in-depth knowledge of DevOps.

What’s new

With our expanded Mendix Pipelines support for both Mendix on Kubernetes and Mendix on Azure, you can now:

  • Automate build and deployment processes: Create end-to-end pipelines that build your Mendix apps and deploy them directly to Kubernetes or Azure environments
  • Integrate with version control systems: Connect your Mendix Git repository directly to Pipelines to trigger automated workflows based on code changes
  • Implement quality gates: Leverage Mendix Maia to ensure code quality before deployment
  • Manage releases: Schedule and automate releases across environments
  • Monitor deployments: Track deployment success and receive notifications about pipeline execution status

The benefits in action

1 – Accelerated time-to-market

With these new deployment targets, teams can maintain the rapid development pace Mendix is known for while deploying to enterprise-grade infrastructure.

2 – Consistent quality assurance

Our support for the Maia Best Practice Recommender right into your pipelines ensures applications can be automatically checked against best practices prior to deployment. This results in higher quality releases.

3 – Reduced manual intervention

By automating the deployment process to Kubernetes and Azure, we’ve eliminated numerous manual steps that were previously required. DevOps teams can now focus on developing the application rather than deploying it.

Getting started

All Mendix on Kubernetes (previously Mendix for Private Cloud Connected) and Mendix on Azure customers can access these new capabilities immediately. To get started:

  1. Open the Mendix Portal
  2. From Apps, go to the Pipelines page
  3. Start designing your pipeline!

Our documentation provides a comprehensive guide for designing, editing and running pipelines.

Looking forward

This release is just the beginning of Pipelines for Mendix on Kubernetes and Mendix on Azure. In the future, we will add additional pipeline steps, such as a Backup step to create backups from your pipelines, and the Unit Testing step to run unit tests from your pipelines. We’re committed to supporting your journey to modern application deployment architectures while preserving the speed and simplicity that makes Mendix your development platform of choice.

We can’t wait to see what you build and deploy with these new capabilities! As always, we welcome your feedback as you put these features to work in your organizations.
