Pension Fund Provider AZL Adopts Mendix App Platform to Accelerate Time-to-Market for Retiree Portal

Mendix’s Visual Modeling Capabilities Significantly Shrink Development Time Frames, Enable Ongoing Business Agility

BOSTON and ROTTERDAM, NL – February 20, 2014 – Mendix, the app platform company for the enterprise, today announced that pension fund provider AZL has selected the Mendix App Platform to quickly develop a custom web portal for pension holders.  The project, which is being implemented by Mendix partner Bizzomate, is expected to significantly reduce time-to-market for the new portal, while providing AZL with the flexibility to easily adapt it to individual pension funds and other business requirements.

As one of the Netherlands’ leading pension providers, AZL handles the administration of more than 60 pension funds with more than 1 million participants.  To improve the exchange of information with third parties, the organization launched an administrative portal for employers in late 2012. Looking to extend this self-service model to pension participants, AZL selected the Mendix App Platform to deliver the new portal in a much quicker, more agile fashion.  Specifically, since AZL’s individual pension funds would provide their participants with a personalized version of the portal, Mendix was crucial to rapidly delivering a standard application and then easily adapting it to each fund’s unique processes.

“Mendix’s development capabilities enable us to build a user-friendly portal in a very short time frame, while having the flexibility to adapt it to our funds’ needs and changing business requirements,” said Edward Heijkers, director of services at AZL. “We expect that our time-to-market with this portal will be significantly reduced, allowing us to better serve our pension participants and empower them with timely insight into their retirement.”

AZL chose Mendix partner Bizzomate to implement the project because of its extensive experience developing user-friendly business applications. Because AZL works with the scrum and agile development methodology, Bizzomate’s local presence in the Netherlands was another important factor, as it facilitates direct and frequent contact between the two parties.

“We welcome AZL to the Mendix community, and look forward to supporting and enabling their application delivery success,” said Derek Roos, chief executive officer of Mendix. “AZL joins a rapidly growing customer and partner base around the world that relies on the Mendix App Platform to accelerate time to market and increase business agility.”

Recognizing the strategic importance of the Mendix App Platform, AZL is building out its internal Mendix expertise, so that it can more fully manage custom application delivery projects in house.
