This morning, we’re excited to share what we’ve been working on with the HP Helion team. In fact, since both HP and Mendix have been early supporters of Cloud Foundry, it was natural for us to come together and bring Mendix’s signature visual, rapid application development capabilities to HP Helion.
The results of this collaboration is significant and demonstrates something unique in the market—a highly scalable, rapid app development PaaS built on open standards. For the first time, you’ll be able to see the power of rapid app development on top of an elastic, Cloud Foundry and OpenStack based development platform in action.
Business users and rapid developers can use Mendix to build web and mobile apps and at the same time deploy them instantly on Helion, with the elasticity, security and reliability required by today’s digital enterprises. This allows companies to focus on innovating and competing with apps rather than getting bogged down with infrastructure and development environment concerns.
In the press release, Bill Hilf, SVP Product and Service Management, HP Cloud, commented that, “Enterprises are looking for new ways to build applications in order to gain fast and meaningful business value. The addition of Mendix can help HP Helion customers create business applications rapidly.”
The addition of Mendix to HP Helion also shows how Mendix complements traditional programming and offers the best way to rapidly create modern applications, taking full advantage of Cloud Foundry.

The partnership announcement coincides with HP Discover 2014 Barcelona. More than 10,000 IT professionals are gathered at this event to see the latest advancements in cloud, mobile, big data and more. Mendix is also a sponsor—come visit us in Hall 4, Stand #462.
More importantly, our CTO Johan den Haan will join HP SVP of Cloud, Marten Mickos, during his keynote today to discuss this integrated solution. Johan will talk about how you can rapidly build and modify web and mobile apps using Mendix and then deploy them with one click to HP Helion. Time permitting he may even get to some interesting topics such as load testing and auto-scaling which really demonstrate how such a combined solution can meet even the highest enterprise demands.
It’s a keynote you don’t want to miss. Fortunately, if you’re not in Barcelona, you can watch a live stream on the HP website. Tune in at 2pm CET and let us know your initial impressions of the Mendix and Helion integration. We’re looking forward to reading the comments below!
