Gartner 2023 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms

Mendix is recognized as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms, and continues to be recognized as the trailblazer in this rapidly maturing market by being placed best for Completeness of Vision for the fourth straight year.

Here’s what Gartner’s research shows about the demand for digital solutions in the enterprise:

“76% of CIOs report increased demand for new digital products or services during the pandemic, and 83% expect this demand to increase further in the upcoming years.”

Traditional development methods aren’t working and can’t meet the increased demand from the business. Low-code application development has entered the mainstream for enterprises looking to modernize and digitally transform successfully. The usage of low-code now extends into new areas of the business as enterprises seek to increase agility, accelerate the time-to-market of their solutions, and to automate manual processes. The Forrester Wave™: Low-Code Development Platforms for Professional Developers, Q2 2021

In the latest low-code market evaluation, Forrester states that:

“as the COVID crisis proved, rapid app development and constant iteration in software have become table stakes. Thus, low-code platforms are now a first-class development approach. At the same time, vendors from more specialized segments are maturing their capabilities across a wider range of use cases and developer personas — leading to a convergence in the digital process automation (DPA) and low-code markets.”

It is clear that low-code has taken center stage for enterprises looking to accelerate their digitalization and modernization efforts. Gartner 2021 Magic Quadrant for Multiexperience Development Platforms (MXDP)

According to this recent Gartner report,

“Multiexperience development platforms provide software engineering teams with a productive way to create rich, interconnected user experiences across web, mobile, conversational, digital twin, IoT and AR applications.”

Leading MXDP platforms also need to be able to deliver great UX for customer facing applications on top of the typical B2B and B2E use cases that enterprises require.

Development strategies that encompass both multiexperience and low-code further accelerate digital transformation by alleviating the current shortage of software development talent to deliver these sophisticated solutions.

The research evaluated the Mendix low-code platform as being a Leader in this space. Compared to all vendors in the space, Gartner recognized Mendix as has having the highest “Ability to Execute” and the furthest to the right for “Completeness of Vision”. In fact, Mendix is the only Leader in the Magic Quadrant delivering a best-of-breed approach for low-code mobile app development. Customers utilize a single low-code IDE and skillset that leverages the best mobile architecture for each use case: PWA for browser-based mobile experiences and native for AppStore-based mobile experiences. It also brings abstraction and automation—core low-code development principles—to further simplify and accelerate development and deployment of these experience-critical solutions.
