Today marks another milestone in our strategy of providing an open, flexible rapid app platform-as-a-service (aPaaS) that supports seamless, multi-cloud deployment. We announced our membership in the newly formed Cloud Foundry Foundation, joining more than 40 member companies (e.g. EMC, HP, IBM, Pivotal, Accenture, Blue Box, Capgemini, Docker, etc.) in supporting the sustained development and adoption of the Cloud Foundry open source projects.
In June, we declared our initial support for Cloud Foundry. By integrating Cloud Foundry’s open PaaS framework with our rapid app platform-as-a-service (aPaaS), we embarked upon a strategy of providing enterprises and service providers with greater flexibility and portability.
Our membership in the Cloud Foundry Foundation strengthens that commitment. By helping to evolve the open PaaS standard and continually enhancing our integration with Cloud Foundry, we can empower Mendix users with the freedom to integrate with any Cloud Foundry-based public, private and hybrid cloud stacks. That way, rapid developers can focus solely on building business apps with Mendix, while having the flexibility and assurance of an open PaaS that can automatically scale with their needs.
In today’s press release, Leo Spiegel, SVP Corporate Development at Pivotal commented that “We are excited to welcome Mendix to the Cloud Foundry Foundation. Mendix brings rapid application development to Cloud Foundry’s open PaaS ecosystem, providing direct business impact with such a fast, easy and open way to build and deliver business applications.”
The leading rapid app development experience for the Cloud Foundry ecosystem
Cloud Foundry is quickly becoming the de facto standard for open PaaS. In fact, according to today’s Foundation launch announcement, Cloud Foundry has seen a 36% increase in community contributions in the past year, along with commercial deployments including Pivotal CF, IBM Bluemix and HP Helion.
On the heels of this growth, Mendix has emerged as the go-to rapid application development experience for customers and service providers adopting Cloud Foundry. Just last week, we announced a partnership with HP that allows companies to rapidly build engaging multi-channel apps using Mendix’s visual development capabilities with integrated one-click deployment for robust, elastic applications on the HP Helion Development Platform.
