Manage Your Apps From Anywhere – Mendix App Platform February 2013 Release Offers New Mobile Management and App Store
It is “just” a minor release, but it may have more in store for you than you’d expect. We completely revamped the mobile app to manage your apps and projects while on the go. The release also includes enhancements to the feedback feature, allowing you to optionally include screenshots and support mobile apps.
We also gave our App Store a nice face-lift and upgraded quite a bit of its content.
Access the Mendix App Platform from Anywhere
Our customers have been building great mobile apps with the Mendix App Platform for some time. In this release, we enhanced the way our business engineers – the users of the Mendix App Platform -can access their activities and projects from a mobile device.
The goal of the mobile version of the Mendix App Platform is to support the typical use cases that a business engineer, SCRUM master, or project manager may encounter while on the road. With the new mobile app, you can read and post messages to the company buzz, explore your projects, and view and update user stories. Furthermore, you can post project messages, schedule work on a feedback item or invite people to your project – all from your mobile device! It’s a great time saver for all of you road warriors! Include Screenshots in Your Feedback
We’d be amiss if we didn’t tell you some more enhancements around our nifty feedback feature – the feedback widget now allows users to submit screenshots along with their feedback. To enable screenshot support, please update the feedback widget in your project and tick the ‘allow screenshots’ option. We do not enable this by default, since screenshots might contain sensitive information.
Improved Chat Functionality
We’ve updated the chat functionality to be significantly more responsive, enabling users to collaborate more easily in real-time. With this release, you can now resize the chat window to better support long conversations.
App Store with Upgraded Content
Did you notice already? Our app store got a facelift. It is now easier to navigate, and presents the many different apps, widgets and templates in a better, more organized way. But we didn’t just work on cosmetics – we also upgraded and added a lot of content to the app store. This includes new widgets for tree and grid views which allow for much better looking user interfaces, a much faster and more enhanced LDAP module, and updates to the format String, Community Commons, MxSMTP and Rich Text Editor, Formloader and a whole bunch of other components.
