Mendix CEO Derek Roos delivers guest lecture at Harvard

Mendix CEO Derek Roos visited Harvard Extension School on March 30th to deliver a lecture on model driven development and enterprise portals.

The lecture was held as part of the Master of Liberal Arts course in the Information Technology Program of Harvard Extension School. Other guest lecturers in this program are Pegasystems and Cognizant.

The course is geared toward IT professionals who are interested in design and deployment of enterpirse-scale software applications. The topics in this course include enterprise applications, business-to-business portals, enterprise data management and IT architecture.

Roos’ lecture was centered around enterprise portals and model driven development. One of the challenges that software organizations face today include an increase in the complexity of their IT infrastructures and solutions. Model driven development is a new approach organizations can use to address these problems and this offers great benefit to the business and the alignment of IT to the needs of the business.

Dr. Zoya Kinstler, PhD, Harvard Extension School, said she enjoyed the lecture very much. “I am impressed with Mendix and their model driven approach towards delivery of business solutions. In today’s business climate the ability to deliver business functionality through a portal interface is essential in engaging with business partners, customers, employees.”
