What You Can Expect to Learn at the Mendix AMCIS Workshop

/ August 8, 2018

Mendix Workshop Blog Background

Mendix, the leading low-code application development platform, is proud to participate at AMCIS for the first time this year. We invite you to join our free half-day Professor workshop, “Empower your students to build real-world solutions: Integrate the leading low-code platform into Information Systems curriculum with Mendix”, on Thursday, August 16th from 9am – 2 pm CDT, to experience how integrating a low-code platform into Information Systems curriculum can enhance your students’ learning.

The workshop will provide an overview of the Mendix platform and capabilities, highlight University use-cases for courses like System Analysis and Design and IT Project Management and Capstones, and provide you with ready-to-use case studies, agile workshops, sample syllabi and more. You’ll hear first-hand from two Professors, Bengisu Tulu of WPI and Paul Witman of California Lutheran, on their experience using Mendix in both business and technically-focused courses. You’ll also have the opportunity to build an app yourself using entity-relationship diagrams, interfaces, and simple logic and feature implementations in a less than a 90-minute sprint cycle. You’ll deploy your applications and see how easy it is for your students to showcase their work.

Professors and students can benefit from the free use of Mendix technology, training, certifications, and curriculum materials through the Mendix University Program. Currently, over 50+ universities are utilizing Mendix in course curriculum for free, including schools like Harvard and MIT.

In addition to hosting a half-day workshop, Mendix will be presenting an Emerging Research Forum Paper and a Professor Development Symposium. The Emerging Research will be presented through the Poster Presentations in partnership with Professor Michael Litman of Concordia University Wisconsin. Professor Litman adopted Mendix into his programming course curriculum and surveyed his students to gauge how their skills and understanding of programming was enhanced by a higher level of abstraction. You can also visit the Mendix booth #206 on the exhibit floor for a customer platform demo.
